![]() I have at least three more WC games to explore, after all. I'm new to all this, so if the veterans here could weigh in on how an old Imperial pilot should go about getting started, I'd be very grateful! I expect I'll only play one or the other (WC1 or SWC), so I want to make the right choice and then just stick with it as I progress through the series. At the least, I can tell the guns in mission 1 fire faster in the "Super" version. It seems to my (admittedly uninitiated) eyes that the flight mechanics and speed are different. ![]() The funny thing is, when I compare the two, it almost doesn't even seem like the same game. Analogously, SheepShaver mounts the Computhrash III volume upon adding /dev/disk1 to the SheepShaverGUI Volumes menu. For those unfamiliar, it's supposed to be the same game, but the "Super" version has full speech and MUCH better graphics. Recall that for a multisession data CD, SheepShaver can mount the not-mounted-by-default CD volumes via acting on the corresponding session partitions with the type name 'Applepartitionscheme'. My question is whether I should start with the original version for DOS, or play the "Super" WC version as it was released on the Macintosh / 3DO instead. I am about to start playing the first Wing Commander. I've been a serious fan of the Freespace and X-Wing series (in particular, TIE Fighter) for a couple of decades, and I think it's long time I got off my butt and played the Wing Commander games, which I understand are truly not to be missed.
